Oliver “Ollie” took an unusual route into offshore sailing, initially following a traditional corporate career path before deciding to pursue his dreams of becoming a professional sailor. He built his career through many years as a race skipper in the UK, Europe and Caribbean. In 2018, he joined Alex Thomson’s HUGO BOSS IMOCA campaign as boat captain which inspired him to launch his own campaign in 2021.

In 2025 Ollie became the first Swiss-German sailor to complete the Vendée Globe, finishing the solo, non-stop circumnavigation on his first attempt in 99 days. With a bigger team, a new base in the UK and a foiling yacht, Ollie is now focussed on delivering a competitive performance in the Vendée Globe 2028 and qualifying races. 

Ollie combines technical knowledge with a calm and methodical mindset, qualities which define his approach both on and off the water.  Racing under the banner Embrace The Challenge, he champions the belief that success starts with mindset - that resilience, focus and adaptability are skills that can be learned and refined.
