Since the beginning, The Ocean Race has always been about teamwork: men and women locked in an epic struggle with nature, overcoming the odds together to survive – and win.

But time has raised the stakes. As visitors to the planet’s most remote locations, our sailors are first-hand witnesses to an ocean in crisis. Now nature is in an epic struggle with us, and the race to halt the ocean’s decline is one that involves us all. Winning it begins with making better choices.

Youthful Porpoise (a wordplay on “useful purpose”) is a lifestyle hub dedicated to better choices. Created and curated by The Ocean Race, we trawl the web in search of useful gear and gadgets made more responsibly, built to last longer or designed for more sustainable living.

By moderating consumption and prioritising goods that do good, together we can help to protect the ocean and alter the planet’s current course. Items featured on Youthful Porpoise must place purpose on an equal footing with price and performance. If they don’t meet that standard, we don’t cover them.
