Will Harris
Co-skipper
Co-skipper
Date of Birth: 22 January 1994
Place of Birth: London, United Kingdom
British sailor Will Harris joined Team Malizia in 2019 and has since competed as co-skipper alongside Boris Herrmann. Having lived and breathed offshore sailing from a young age, his passion and energy for the sport are evident to everyone around him. Today, he is recognised as one of the most exciting emerging talents in modern ocean racing.
Alongside Boris Herrmann, Will has taken part in major double-handed events such as the Fastnet Race 2019 and the Transat Jacques Vabre in 2019 and 2023, as well as fully-crewed competitions including The Ocean Race 2022–2023. During that edition, he stepped into the role of skipper for two legs, becoming the youngest skipper in the race, and was awarded the Hans Horrevoets Rookie Trophy. Together with Simon Fisher, he was the only sailor to complete every leg and every In-Port Race.
After finishing third in The Ocean Race Europe 2021 with Team AkzoNobel, Will returns to the race in 2025 with Team Malizia, once again taking on skipper duties when Boris Herrmann is not onboard. With a stopover in Portsmouth, competing in British waters is a personal highlight that Will is especially looking forward to this season.
Despite his young age, Will Harris surpasses many of his peers in experience and brings a forward-thinking, modern approach to offshore racing. His role within Team Malizia is vital - not only as co-skipper, but also in preparing Boris Herrmann for the Vendée Globe, and supporting the team as meteorologist, navigator, and spokesperson.
Holding a degree in Oceanography, Will is deeply passionate about marine science and uses his sailing platform to advocate for ocean research and sustainability.
