Place of birth: London

Pip Hare is known as the CEO and skipper of the UK-based IMOCA team, Pip Hare Ocean Racing. This year, as part of a powerful collaboration, she joined Team Be Water Positive, bringing her experience and energy to a fully crewed ocean racing project. Pip will take the helm and stand in as skipper of the Canadian team during the legs when Scott Shawyer is not racing.

Pip’s passion for ocean racing has driven a 30-year career dedicated to the sport. She is visibly at home on the water and has earned a reputation for making this highly technical discipline accessible and relatable. Having worked her way up the ranks of international ocean racing, starting with a liveaboard boat in the OSTAR transatlantic race, Pip is now a respected competitor in the IMOCA fleet and a world sailing record holder.

With seven years of IMOCA experience, Pip most recently campaigned a foiling IMOCA in the four-year build-up to the 2024 Vendée Globe. She outperformed the age of her boat to achieve top-ten results in the IMOCA Globe Series events.

During the 2024 Vendée Globe, Pip devastatingly dismasted 800 miles south of Australia, almost exactly halfway around the course. Rather than calling for rescue, she built a makeshift mast from the wreckage and sailed herself to safety.

Pip brings a love of the ocean, a drive to compete, and a human voice to the Be Water Positive Team.
