France

Hugo is a French sailor and technician from Charente-Maritime. He began sailing at age six in La Tremblade through a school program and quickly became passionate about the sport.

He competed in Optimist, 420, and 470, including Olympic campaigns for London 2012 and Rio 2016, though he didn’t race in the Games. He later specialized in match racing before turning to offshore sailing, racing in IRC double-handed and crewed events, and eventually in Class40. Alongside sailing, Hugo earned a general engineering degree from INP Bordeaux in 2017.

He contributed to the development of the foiling Mini 747, blending his technical and sailing expertise. Since 2021, Hugo has worked in IMOCA teams as an electrologist, contributing to major campaigns including the Vendée Globe 2024. He is involved in technical preparation and deliveries, playing a key role in the success of the boats and their skippers.

“I’m really happy and proud to be part of this adventure. I realize how lucky I am to be able to take part in a leg of The Ocean Race Europe — it’s not something everyone gets to experience. So I’m very glad and grateful for the trust of the whole Allagrande Mapei team. It won’t be an easy task to step in for Morgan, we all know his incredible track record, but I’ll do my best to bring something different and make sure it works.”
