French yachtsman Nicolas Lunven first made his name as a solo sailor after winning the prestigious Solitaire du Figaro trophy in 2009 at the age of 26 when he saw off challenges from a clutch of top French skippers like Michel Desjoyeaux, Jérémie Beyou,Yann Eliès and Armel Le Cléac'h.
He won the Solitaire again in 2017 and finished on the podium in 2012 and 2016 as well as being crowned French Ocean Racing Champion in 2017.
His first edition of The Ocean Race was in 2014-15 when he sailed with the Spanish MAPFRE team. In the 2017-18 edition he raced as navigator aboard the VO65 Turn the Tide on Plastic and has since found himself much in demand among professional ocean racing teams.
In 2021 Lunven won the VO65 division of the inaugural edition of The Ocean Race Europe aboard the Portuguese entry Mirpuri Foundation Ocean Racing.
