Now an experienced all-round sailor who has raced at a high-level all over the world and clocked up more than 55,000 sea miles, when Rosalin Kuiper originally set her sights on a professional sailing career she had to go all out to make it happen.
Having graduated from the Team Heiner Youth Academy – a programme created by legendary Dutch skipper Roy Heiner, a veteran of three Volvo Ocean Race campaigns – Kuiper (27) set her sights on finding a spot on a top boat for the 2018 Sydney to Hobart Race. After flying to Australia months before the Boxing Day start date she set out from marina to marina in search of an opportunity.
Her hard graft paid off when she landed a shore crew job with the supermaxi InfoTrack where her dedication and hard work earned her a place on the boat for the race. Since then Kuiper has become a familiar face on top professional campaigns around the world at regattas like the Middle Sea Race and Caribbean 600.
In 2021 Kuiper raced to third place in the VO65 division of the inaugural edition of The Ocean Race Europe aboard the Netherlands entry AkzoNobel Ocean Racing.
When not at sea she spends most of the time in her self-built campervan and enjoys cycling, kite surfing and hiking.
