An experienced racing sailor in his own right, Frenchman Yann Riou has carved out an enviable reputation as an on board reporter. Riou is returning to The Ocean Race for the fourth time after first taking part in 2011-12 when he chronicled the story of Franck Cammas’ victorious Groupama sailing team – which included Team Holcim – PRB teammate Charles Caudrelier with whom he also sailed in The Ocean Race 2014-15 aboard Dongfeng Race Team (CHN).

As well as participating in The Ocean Race 2017-18 with the Dutch entry Team Brunel, Riou also raced around the world on the Maxi trimaran Spindrift Racing as media man for the team’s 2015 attempt at the Jules Verne Trophy.

Additionally, Riou was on board the 100-foot monohull Comanche when the crew set a transatlantic record in 2016, and has worked on numerous other projects for top tier sailing teams like France’s Macif and Gitana.
