Benjamin Schwartz
Skipper
Although taking part in The Ocean Race as a sailor for the first time, France's Benjamin Schwartz was part of the victorious Dongfeng Race Team (CHN) in the race's 2017-18 edition.
For Benjamin (36), racing around the world in The Ocean Race has been a childhood dream he has held since he started sailing at the age of 10.
Benjamin Schwartz is a well known protagonist on the European offshore racing scene. In 2019 he became the first ever competitor to win the elite Offshore French Championship as a rookie, and in 2020 he won the Eurosaf Mixed Offshore European Championship sailing with Marie Riou (FRA).
In 2021 he took part in the inaugural edition of The Ocean Race Europe aboard Nicolas Troussel's French IMOCA CORUM L'Épargne, and was then selected in the campaign "Sail of Change" from Spindrift Racing in 2022, to sail their Ultim boat on the Jules Verne Trophy attempt.
