11th Hour Racing Team

Damian Foxall

Crew member

Ireland

One of Ireland’s most accomplished ocean racing yachtsmen, Damian Foxall has logged more than 450,000 nautical miles as a professional sailor, and participated in 10 around-the-world races – including six previous editions of The Ocean Race.

Foxall (54) is a long-time member of the 11th Hour Racing Team syndicate, where aside from his duties as a sailor he is also the manager of the team’s sustainability programme, which delivers on its Planet Positive commitment – including measuring the climate impact of the team’s complete operations, reducing where possible, insetting, and finally compensating, drawing down 20 percent more greenhouse gases than the team emits.

As well as winning the 2011-12 edition of The Ocean Race aboard Franck Cammas’ French Groupama sailing team, the Irish sailor has also won two other around-the-world races: in 2008, the double-handed Barcelona World Race sailing with Jean-Pierre Dick (FRA); and in 2005, the Oryz Quest as part of Brian Thompson’s victorious crew aboard the max-catamaran Doha 2006.

Previous participation in The Ocean Race:
2002-03 Team Tyco
2006-07 Ericsson Racing Team
2009-10 Green Dragon Racing Team
2011-12 Groupama sailing team
2014-15 Dongfeng Race Team
2017-18 Vestas 11th Hour Racing
