Alan Roberts has established a reputation over the last 10 years as one of Britain’s top offshore racing talents. An accomplished dinghy sailor and a graduate of the Artemis Offshore Academy – since 2014 Roberts has raced eight seasons on the high intensity French solo Figaro circuit and clocked up more than 70,000 solo offshore miles along the way.

In that time, as well as making regular appearances on the Figaro podium Roberts (33) has spent valuable time at the legendary French Pôle Finistère Course au Large offshore training centre – honing his skills against the top names on the French solo ocean racing scene.

In 2023, sailing with co-skipper Scott Shawyer (CAN) aboard the IMOCA Canada Ocean Racing, Roberts set a new doublehanded record when they won Royal Ocean Racing Club transatlantic race from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean in nine days, 12 hours and 26 minutes – beating the previous benchmark by more than eight hours.
