
Ambrogio Beccaria

Born and raised in Milan, Italian sailor Ambrogio Beccaria (30) has a degree in nautical engineering and is taking part in The Ocean Race for the first time.
After racing for several seasons on the European fully-crewed and double-handed offshore circuits, in 2016 Beccaria graduated to the solo Mini 6.50 class where he quickly made an impression on the highly competitive fleet.
In 2019 he became the first Italian to win the gruelling Mini Transat solo transatlantic race.
Having been named 2018 and 2019 TAG Heuer Sailor of the Year by the Italian magazine Giornale della Vela, in 2019 Beccaria was also awarded the prestigious Ambrogino d’Oro by the city of Milan for his ocean racing achievements.
Most recently, the Italian yachtsman has been making a name for himself on the Class 40 offshore circuit, where in his first race aboard his new boat ‘Alla grande – Pirelli’ he finished second in the 2022 edition of the solo Route du Rhum.
