Genova is ready to celebrate the arrival of The Ocean Race, the spectacular round-the-world sailing race that will land in Italy for the first time. On Saturday (10 am) the Ocean Live Park will officially open, set up on the areas of the new East Waterfront (Waterfront di Levante). Here the sea has regained space thanks to the vision of the architect Renzo Piano, a village full of activities and experiences - sailing, sport, art, innovation, sustainability, shows and entertainment - is being built. Admission will be free, from Saturday 24 June to Sunday 2 July, 10:00 to 22:00.
Official opening is scheduled on Saturday at 10:00 with the cutting of the ribbon, accompanied by the notes of the Marching Band.
Many activities to experience: from workshops and immersive experiences in the Sustainability Pavilion (with the presentation of the postage stamp dedicated to the Grand Finale) to various sport discipline trials in the Genova 2024 area: tennis, padel, football, fencing, hockey, golf, bowls, billiards and subbuteo. There is space for "e-sports" in the Jean Nouvel Pavilion with four e-sailing stations, three dedicated to FIFA 2023 Play Stations, Nintendo (Mario Kart and more) and a simulator to experience the thrill of sporty driving. On the opening day, Northern Light, the first fully recyclable sailing monotype, will also be launched, and the Innovation Village will be opened, with nine technological solutions that aim at sustainability and inclusion, all to be tried.
