OceansLab, spearheaded by British sailor Phil Sharp, is gearing up to make history

The first hydrogen-powered racing boat, OceansLab

The yacht will be the first to sail in The Ocean Race without any use of fossil fuels

With over 25 podium finishes and 3 world sailing speed records, Sharp is no stranger to pushing boundaries.

Now, his state-of-the-art 60-foot IMOCA class hydrofoil racing yacht, is designed to be the first to sail in The Ocean Race without any use of fossil fuels, by integrating a cutting-edge hydrogen-electric system. This system combines a hydrogen fuel cell, green hydrogen, solar panels, hydro generators, and lithium-ion batteries, for zero emissions and high performance.

Sharp, co-founder of Genevos, and the clean technology accelerator OceansLab, aims to showcase the power of renewable energy by competing in the world’s most challenging ocean races.

Bertrand Piccard, Swiss explorer and clean energy pioneer, emphasises the project's significance: "OceansLab is about implementing and demonstrating new clean technology innovations."

OceansLab is seeking a lead partner to join their mission in transforming the maritime industry and showcasing these groundbreaking technologies on a global stage. The journey begins with The Ocean Race Europe in 2025, followed by The Ocean Race in 2027.
