The Ocean Race 2027
Since 1973, The Ocean Race has provided the ultimate test of a team. For over 50 years, it has held a mythical grip on the world’s greatest sailors, serving as the definitive proving ground for the legends of offshore racing.
On January 17, 2027, the 15th edition will start from our home port in Alicante, Spain.
An Historic Route
Featuring the "flying" IMOCA fleet, this edition will push the limits of nautical technology and human endurance and resilience across the most challenging environments on the planet. The 2027 race course is one of the most intriguing to date, featuring a mix of legendary stopovers and new frontiers:
- Alicante to Auckland: An historic start featuring the longest opening leg in Race history (14,000nm).
- The Southern Ocean: A dive into the "Roaring Forties" and a rounding of Cape Horn to reach Itajaí, Brazil.
- The Americas & Europe: A trek to the north to St. Pete-Clearwater, Florida, followed by a transatlantic crossing to Cascais, Portugal.
- The Grand Finale: A spectacular conclusion at AMAALA in the Red Sea, marking our first-ever finish in this iconic region.
